Dry Skin in Battle

Dry Skin provides a complex set of weather and type interactions. In rain, the Pokemon heals 1/8 of its maximum HP at the end of each turn. In harsh sunlight, it instead takes 1/8 max HP damage per turn. Additionally, the Pokemon takes 1.25x damage from all Fire-type moves, but is completely immune to Water-type moves and heals 1/4 of its max HP when hit by one.

The Water immunity functions as a full absorption effect — the move deals no damage and instead restores HP. This makes Dry Skin users excellent switch-ins to predicted Water-type attacks. The Fire weakness stacks with any existing Fire weakness from typing, making the Pokemon exceptionally vulnerable to Fire moves.

Dry Skin is found on Pokemon like Toxicroak, Parasect, Jynx, and Heliolisk. Toxicroak is the most notable competitive user, as its Poison/Fighting typing has no Water weakness normally, and Dry Skin converts Water moves into a reliable healing source. In rain teams, Toxicroak gains both passive healing and Water immunity.
