Heatproof in Battle

Heatproof halves the damage taken from Fire-type moves and reduces burn damage from 1/16 to 1/32 of maximum HP per turn. This provides significant Fire resistance without requiring a type change, effectively treating Fire-type attacks as if the Pokemon had an additional resistance.

The damage reduction applies to all Fire-type moves, both physical and special, and stacks with any type resistances the Pokemon already has. For a Steel-type Pokemon that already resists Fire (0.5x), Heatproof reduces it further to 0.25x, making Fire attacks almost negligible.

Heatproof is found on Bronzor, Bronzong, Rolycoly, and the tea Pokemon Poltchageist and Sinistcha. Bronzong is the most notable competitive user — as a Steel/Psychic-type, Heatproof eliminates its most significant weakness (Fire) by reducing it from 2x to effectively 1x neutral damage. This forces opponents to find alternative ways to threaten Bronzong beyond Fire-type coverage.
