Drought
Gen IIIThe weather changes to strong sunlight when this Pokémon enters battle and does not end unless cancelled by another weather condition. If multiple Pokémon with this ability, Drizzle, Sand Stream, or Snow Warning are sent out at the same time, the abilities will activate in order of Speed, respecting Trick Room. Each ability's weather will cancel the previous weather, and only the weather summoned by the slowest of the Pokémon will stay.
Drought in Battle
Drought automatically summons harsh sunlight when the Pokemon enters battle, lasting indefinitely unless replaced by another weather condition. Under sun, Fire-type moves deal 1.5x damage, Water-type moves are weakened to 0.5x, Solar Beam and Solar Blade require no charge turn, Moonlight and Morning Sun heal 2/3 HP, and Synthesis heals 2/3 HP.
Like other weather-setting abilities, when multiple weather setters enter simultaneously, the slowest Pokemon's weather prevails. Drought activates each time the Pokemon switches in, allowing for repeated weather control throughout a battle.
Drought is found on Ninetales (including Kantonian form), Torkoal, and Groudon. It enables sun-based strategies centered around Chlorophyll Speed boosters, powerful Fire-type attacks, and instant Solar Beam. Torkoal is the most common Drought user in competitive play due to its availability, while Groudon's Drought powers the most dominant weather strategies in unrestricted formats.
