Poison Puppeteer in Battle

Poison Puppeteer is a signature ability exclusive to Pecharunt that creates a devastating dual status combination whenever the mythical Poison/Ghost-type successfully poisons an opponent. When Pecharunt uses any move that inflicts poison status—whether through direct poison-inflicting attacks or secondary effects—the target automatically becomes confused in addition to being poisoned. This creates an immediate double burden for the opponent, forcing them to deal with both the gradual HP loss from poison and the unpredictable self-damage risk that comes with confusion.

The ability's mechanical implementation is straightforward but potent in its simplicity. Any poisoning effect triggered by Pecharunt's moves will simultaneously apply confusion, regardless of whether the poison comes from a move's primary effect or a secondary chance. This synergy is particularly dangerous because confusion can prevent opponents from using healing moves or switching out effectively, potentially trapping them in a deteriorating situation where both status conditions compound each other's impact.

In competitive play, Poison Puppeteer transforms Pecharunt into a formidable status spreader that can quickly destabilize opposing teams. The ability's introduction in Generation 9 gives Pecharunt a unique niche among Poison-types, as no other Pokémon can reliably inflict both poison and confusion simultaneously through their natural movepool, making it a valuable asset for stall teams and status-oriented strategies.
