Honey Gather
Gen IVThis Pokémon has a chance of picking up Honey after each battle. This chance starts at 5% and rises another 5% after every tenth level: 5% from level 1–10, 10% from 11–20, and so on, up to 50% from 91–100. This ability is checked after the battle ends, at which point any temporary ability changes have worn off.
Honey Gather in Battle
Honey Gather is an out-of-battle ability that gives the Pokemon a chance to collect Honey after each battle, provided it is not holding an item. The collection chance scales with level: 5% at levels 1-10, increasing by 5% every ten levels, up to 50% at levels 91-100.
The ability has no effect in battle whatsoever. It does not provide any stat boosts, immunities, or other combat benefits. The collected Honey is placed in the Pokemon's held item slot, which means the Pokemon cannot simultaneously hold a battle-relevant item.
Honey Gather is found on Teddiursa, Combee, Cutiefly, and Ribombee. Honey is used in the overworld to attract wild Pokemon to trees or as a Sweet Scent equivalent. While useful for collection purposes during a playthrough, Honey Gather is considered one of the weakest abilities in competitive play due to its complete lack of battle functionality.
