Receiver in Battle

Receiver is a unique ability that allows a Pokémon to inherit the ability of any ally that faints during battle. When a teammate is knocked out, the Pokémon with Receiver immediately gains that ally's ability, potentially transforming its role and capabilities mid-battle. This ability copying effect is permanent for the duration of that battle, meaning the Pokémon retains the new ability until the battle ends or it faints itself.

The ability has some important limitations worth noting. Receiver cannot copy certain abilities that are considered uncopyable, such as Multitype, RKS System, or other signature abilities that are intrinsically tied to specific Pokémon forms. Additionally, if multiple allies faint simultaneously, Receiver will only copy the ability of one of them, typically the last one processed by the game's mechanics.

Passimian is the sole possessor of this ability, and while it sees limited use in standard competitive formats, Receiver can create interesting strategic possibilities in doubles or special battle formats. The ability's effectiveness largely depends on team composition and the specific abilities available to copy from allies. In theory, a well-constructed team could use Receiver to grant Passimian powerful abilities like Intimidate or Storm Drain, though the requirement of sacrificing an ally makes this a high-risk, high-reward strategy that requires careful planning to execute successfully.
