Ice Face

Gen VIII
Effect

When an Eiscue that's in its Ice Face form is hit by a physical move, it takes no damage and changes into its Noice Face form. If a hailstorm or snowstorm begins while Eiscue is in its Noice Face form, or if it is sent out in its Noice Face form during hail, it will immediately revert to its Ice Face form.

Ice Face in Battle

Ice Face is an exclusive ability belonging to Eiscue. While in its Ice Face form, Eiscue can absorb one physical attack without taking any damage — the ice on its head breaks, transforming it into Noice Face form. Only physical moves trigger this effect; special moves deal full damage regardless of form. The shielding applies to the entire attack, including any secondary effects, making it a guaranteed one-time physical hit nullification.

Once the ice has broken, Eiscue's stats shift — Noice Face form trades bulk for significantly higher Speed, changing Eiscue's role from a physical wall to a faster attacker. The ice head can be restored if hail (or snow, from Generation IX onward) begins while Eiscue is in Noice Face form, or if Eiscue is sent out during active hail or snow. This makes Ice Face a form-changing ability that rewards hail team synergy and careful switching. Introduced in Generation VIII, it is unique to Eiscue — no other Pokemon can have this ability.
