Minus
Gen IIIThis Pokémon has 1.5× its Special Attack if any friendly Pokémon has Plus or Minus. This bonus does not count as a stat modifier. If either ability is disabled by Gastro Acid, both lose their effect.
Minus in Battle
Minus is a cooperative ability introduced in Generation III that boosts the holder's Special Attack stat by 50% when fighting alongside a partner with the Plus or Minus ability. This synergy-based boost does not count as a traditional stat modifier, making it unaffected by moves like Haze or abilities like Unaware.
The ability underwent a significant change in Generation V. Originally, Minus only activated when paired with a Pokemon that had Plus -- a strict one-to-one pairing. From Black and White onward, Minus also activates when paired with another Minus user, greatly expanding its flexibility in Double and Multi Battles. If either ability is suppressed by Gastro Acid, both partners lose the benefit simultaneously.
Minus is found on 6 Pokemon, predominantly Electric-types like Minun, Klinklang, and Dedenne. In competitive play, the ability is niche due to its reliance on a specific partner, but in Double Battles it can enable powerful special attackers when paired correctly.
