When Darmanitan's HP drops to 50% or below of its maximum, it automatically transforms into Zen Mode at the end of the turn. Conversely, when its HP rises above the 50% threshold, it reverts to Standard Mode after the turn concludes. This transformation occurs consistently after each turn, making it a predictable but strategic element in battle planning.

The form change brings significant stat redistributions that drastically alter Darmanitan's battle role. In Standard Mode, Darmanitan functions as a physical powerhouse with exceptional Attack stats, while Zen Mode shifts it toward a more balanced or specially-oriented approach with different stat allocations and typing changes. Competitively, Zen Mode presents both opportunities and challenges.
