Grim Neigh raises the Pokemon's Special Attack by one stage each time it knocks out an opposing Pokemon. The boost activates immediately after the knockout, potentially allowing the increased Special Attack to apply to subsequent actions in the same turn during double battles.
The Special Attack boost follows standard stat stage mechanics and can accumulate up to the maximum of +6. The ability creates a snowball effect where each knockout makes the next one easier, rewarding offensive momentum.
Grim Neigh is the signature ability of Spectrier, the Ghost-type Legendary Pokemon introduced in Generation VIII's Crown Tundra expansion. With Spectrier's base 145 Special Attack and 130 Speed, even a single Grim Neigh boost makes it extremely difficult to wall. When Spectrier fuses with Calyrex to form Shadow Rider Calyrex, Grim Neigh combines with Unnerve to create the composite ability As One.
