Lévitation en combat

Introduced in Generation III, Levitate renders the Pokemon completely immune to all Ground-type damaging moves by floating above the battlefield. Beyond move immunity, Levitate makes the Pokemon ungrounded -- preventing damage from entry hazards like Spikes and Toxic Spikes, escape prevention from Arena Trap, and effects of terrain. Poison-type Pokemon with Levitate do not absorb Toxic Spikes when switching in.

This immunity is suspended under specific conditions: during Gravity, while holding an Iron Ball, under the effects of Ingrain, or after being hit by Smack Down or Thousand Arrows. Thousand Arrows is particularly notable as the only Ground-type move that can hit Levitate Pokemon directly.

With 32 Pokemon carrying this ability -- including iconic battlers like Gengar, Rotom forms, Bronzong, and Latios/Latias -- Levitate is one of the most competitively significant abilities in the game, effectively removing an entire type's offensive coverage from the equation.
