Statik en combat

Static creates a defensive hazard for physical attackers, triggering a 30% chance to inflict paralysis whenever an opponent makes direct contact with the Pokemon. This ability activates regardless of whether the contact move deals damage, meaning even moves like Rapid Spin or U-turn can potentially trigger the paralysis effect. Notably, Pokemon that are normally immune to Electric-type attacks, such as Ground-types, can still be paralyzed by Static, making it a reliable status spreader against a wide variety of physical threats.

The ability has remained mechanically consistent since its introduction in Generation 3, consistently providing the same 30% activation rate on contact moves. Static only triggers on moves that make physical contact with the user, so ranged physical attacks like Rock Slide or special moves will not activate the effect. The paralysis inflicted follows standard paralysis rules, reducing the target's Speed by 50% and giving them a 25% chance to be unable to move each turn.

Competitively, Static serves as valuable passive pressure on Pokemon like Zapdos and Ampharos, deterring physical attackers from making repeated contact. Zapdos particularly benefits from this ability in formats where it faces common physical threats, while bulky Electric-types like Bellibolt can use Static to cripple opposing sweepers. The ability provides consistent utility throughout battle, making physical attackers think twice about engaging in direct combat.
