Sincronía (Synchronize)

Gen. III
Efecto

Whenever this Pokémon is burned, paralyzed, or poisoned, the Pokémon who gave this Pokémon that ailment is also given the ailment. This ability passes back bad poison when this Pokémon is badly poisoned. This ability cannot pass on a status ailment that the Pokémon did not directly receive from another Pokémon, such as the poison from Toxic Spikes or the burn from a Flame Orb. Overworld: If the lead Pokémon has this ability, wild Pokémon have a 50% chance of having the lead Pokémon's nature, and a 50% chance of being given a random nature as usual, including the lead Pokémon's nature. This does not work on Pokémon received outside of battle or roaming legendaries.

Sincronía en combate

Synchronize creates a defensive deterrent by mirroring status conditions back onto their originators. When a Pokémon with this ability receives burn, paralysis, or poison from a direct attack or move, the attacking Pokémon immediately suffers the same status condition. This retaliatory effect works with both regular poison and badly poisoned status, making it particularly punishing against Toxic users. The ability proves especially valuable against common status spreaders like Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave, turning their own weapons against them.

The ability has specific limitations that prevent exploitation of indirect status sources. Synchronize will not activate when the Pokémon is afflicted through entry hazards like Toxic Spikes, held items such as Flame Orb, or other self-inflicted status conditions. This ensures the ability only responds to deliberate status attacks from opponents rather than environmental or strategic status application.

Competitively, Synchronize has found its niche primarily among Psychic-type Pokémon like Alakazam, Gardevoir, and the Eeveelutions Espeon and Umbreon. While not the most impactful ability in high-level play, it serves as a solid deterrent against status-heavy strategies and can catch opponents off-guard who forget about its presence. The ability's passive nature means it doesn't interfere with offensive game plans while providing a subtle layer of protection against common status moves that could otherwise cripple these typically frail Psychic-types.
