The ability essentially transforms confusion from a purely detrimental status condition into a double-edged sword that can provide substantial defensive utility.

The mechanics are straightforward: once confusion is inflicted, the Pokemon's evasion is immediately doubled, making all incoming attacks 50% less likely to connect. This effect remains active for the entire duration of the confusion status, ending only when the Pokemon snaps out of confusion naturally or through external means like healing items or moves. The ability works with confusion from any source, whether self-inflicted through moves like Outrage or Petal Dance, or inflicted by opponents through moves like Confuse Ray or Swagger.

In competitive play, Tangled Feet sees limited use due to its situational nature and the inherent risks of confusion. Pokemon like Pidgeot and Dodrio occasionally attempt to exploit this ability by pairing it with moves that can self-inflict confusion, though the strategy remains niche. The ability is more commonly encountered as an incidental benefit when these Pokemon happen to become confused through standard battle interactions, providing unexpected survivability against opposing attacks.
