Cute Charm

Cute Charm gives a 30% chance of infatuating any opposing Pokemon that makes contact with the user through a physical move. Infatuated Pokemon have a 50% chance of being unable to attack each turn, creating a potentially crippling disruption. The infatuation only works on Pokemon of the opposite gender — same-gender or genderless Pokemon are unaffected.

The gender requirement significantly limits the ability's reliability in competitive play, where many powerful Pokemon are genderless (legendaries, Rotom forms) or exclusively one gender. When it does trigger, however, the combination of contact-based activation and the powerful infatuation effect can stall opponents for multiple turns.

Prior to Generation VIII, Cute Charm also had an overworld effect: wild Pokemon had a 2/3 chance of being the opposite gender of the lead Pokemon. Cute Charm is found on Normal and Fairy-type Pokemon including Clefable, Wigglytuff, Delcatty, Lopunny, and Sylveon.
