Held Items are the backbone of competitive Pokemon battling. A Pokemon can hold one item during battle, gaining passive effects that range from HP recovery to massive damage boosts. Choosing the right held item is as important as selecting moves and EV spreads.

Top Competitive Picks

Leftovers provides reliable 1/16 HP recovery each turn, ideal for bulky Pokemon. Life Orb boosts all attacks by 1.3x at the cost of 10% HP per hit. Heavy-Duty Boots prevent all entry hazard damage, essential for Stealth Rock-weak Pokemon like Volcarona.

Defensive Items

Rocky Helmet punishes physical attackers with 1/6 contact damage. Assault Vest boosts Special Defense by 50% but restricts the holder to attacking moves only. Eviolite doubles both Defense and Special Defense of not-fully-evolved Pokemon, turning NFE Pokemon into defensive walls.
