Amateur competitive Pokémon player

Learning competitive Pokémon in public – ladder runs, rating, and the numbers close at hand.

Everything published on this blog is written by one person – an amateur player who enjoys the game and wants to climb the ladder.

There is no tournament record behind this site, and it does not pretend otherwise. The learning happens right now on Pokémon Showdown, one ladder run at a time, and the blog is the notebook kept along the way. When an article explains why a slot exists or why a speed tier matters, the reason was usually looked up after losing to it first.

Away from the ladder, the day job is data: usage statistics, sample sizes, and the many ways an average can lie to you. The same habit runs through everything here – numbers come from usage stats and damage calculations, never from a feeling about what looks strong.

So the promise stays narrow: no invented tournament results, no untested advice, and a correction on the page itself when something turns out wrong. Spotted a mistake? An email is enough – it gets fixed.
